It all started WITH A BLOOD TEST...

As a vegetarian for most of my life, I thought I was being healthy having a cream cheese bagel for breakfast, veggie burger for lunch, & pasta for dinner - every day. Hey, it wasn't fast food and I was cooking mostly at home, so it had to be healthy, right? I was always thin so that meant I was doing OK, right? I went to my Dr for a big blood work up & the results really shocked me. My Dr told me I was so deficient in important nutrients, he could compare my health to that of a person living in a 3rd world setting. Wow! Talk about eye opening. I went home with many prescriptions, one being a $400 Vitamin B spray that would need to be refilled every few weeks. With a tight budget and a reluctance to rely on prescription medications, I started doing some research & learned I could get Vitamin B naturally from adjusting my diet. Once my health improved, I decided to get my nutrients and vitamins from foods rather than through medication, which saved me a ton of money & opened a door for more research into a balanced & nutrient dense diet. 

My parents have faced some major health situations & it's left them questioning their own "healthy eating." It's helped us realize how little we actually consider what we eat when discussing our health issues. 

Fast forward 10 years, years of learning & lifestyle adjustments, & here I am! With access to so much information about diets & recipes, how do you decide what is best for your health?
